Vina Laguna Teran

This is the indigenous red wine of Istria, something of a secret, revealed to those who explore this mystical land. It was the wine of ordinary folk – there is a soup based on Teran that sustained the vineyard worker – but now it has been discovered by wine explorers, especially journalists, who welcome its crunchy mouth-feel, its fruit and acidity, as a refreshing change from international grape varieties. Unusually for a red wine grape, it enjoys either cool summers or protected vineyard sites like these on the magical hills of Vižinada, which is by far the best place to enjoy this wine – with a plate of prosciutto (local prsut) and country cheese, under a bright sky, in love with the lightness of being Istria.
